Platform updates – retirement of e3learning sub domain

The e3learning sub domain will be redirected to the Kineo sub domain on the 1st of October, this update outlines FAQ’s to get ready for this change.

As part of the platform update to support the Kineo relaunch and communicated in 9.11.4 release, the timeline for retiring the e3Learning domain has been extended to allow you to perform any necessary changes. On October 1, 2018, the e3Learning domain will be reconfigured to redirect all traffic from the e3Learning domain to the equivalent Kineoportal subdomain.

Below you will find more information about these changes including a list of the most frequently asked questions, as well as answers to these questions. If you should have further questions that are not listed here, please contact the Kineo help desk or your Client Services Manager.

What changes are being made to the e3Learning domains?

On October 1, 2018, the e3Learning domain will be reconfigured to redirect all traffic from the e3Learning domain to the equivalent Kineoportal subdomain.

Which e3Learning domains are affected?

The table below compares domains before and after setting up the new Kineoportal sub-domain:

What will my new domain be?

The Kineoportal sub-domain will be the replacement for the e3Learning domain. Refer to the table above.

Do I have to wait for the 1st of October to use the new kineoportal domain?

No.  The kineoportal sub-domain is available for you to start using anytime.

Will the new domain continue to include SSL encryption?

Yes.SSL is enforced for the kineoportal domain.

If I have a custom domain, will this be affected?

No. Custom domains will be unaffected.

If my users have bookmarked courses and other links using the e3Learning domain, will these still work?

Yes - the users’ browsers will automatically redirect them to the new Kineoportal sub-domain.

Will SAML single sign on (SSO) on be affected? If so, what changes will I need to make?

SAML SSO may be affected, depending on the domains listed in your metadata.

Be sure to verify your SAML SSO using the new domain on your live environment before the go live date.Where your SAML SSO is required to be reconfigured, this can and should be completed before the 1st of October.

Will token-based single sign on be affected? If so, what changes will I need to make?

No – token-based single sign on will remain unaffected. 

I am using the integration API. How will this be affected and what changes will I need to make?

If your integration correctly handles re-directs, you are not required to make any change.

However, we recommend that you test and update your integration using new domains. Note that new domains are already available for you to test and you can start using them anytime.

Will webhooks integration be affected? If so, what changes will I need to make?

No.

Will Sine integration be affected? If so, what changes will I need to make?

Yes, you’ll be required to update the domain details to your new Kineoportal sub-domain in Sine.This can and should be completed before the 1st of October. Instructions to configure Sine can be read in our knowledgebase.

How will Learning Cloud content delivery be affected?

For Learning Cloud content to be delivered correctly, you may be required to whitelist the domain name ‘scorm.kineoportal.com.au’ on your corporate firewalls.

Are there any security considerations my IT department will need to make with this change, such as white labelling domains, etc.?

Your IT department may need to whitelist the new domain on your corporate firewalls

Will I still receive my scheduled emailed reports that are automatically sent from the system?

Yes. Scheduled emailed reports will be unaffected.
