The Official Aseptic Non Touch Technique eLearning Course is now available in Responsive!

Kineo Courses are excited to announce that we have partnered with The Association for Safe Aseptic Practice to rebuild their course on Aseptic Non-Touch Technique, or ANTT, in Kineo’s Responsive authoring tool.

This course, authored by the Association for Safe Aseptic Practice (ASAP), provides official accreditation for ANTT theory applied to clinical practice. It teaches healthcare workers how to apply the ANTT Clinical Practice Framework to clinical practice.

The course is designed for healthcare workers globally, who perform invasive clinical procedures and maintenance of indwelling medical devices as part of their scope of practice.

At the successful completion of this course, your learners will be able to:

  • demonstrate the principles of ANTT
  • identify the three main sources by which Key-Parts and Key-Sites can become contaminated by microorganisms during aseptic technique
  • demonstrate why ANTT is used for all invasive clinical procedures including maintenance of invasive medical devices
  • demonstrate why the aim of ANTT for all invasive clinical procedures is always asepsis
  • define and identify Key-Parts and Key-Sites
  • state why non-touch technique is important, even in Surgical-ANTT, and
  • state the main difference in technique between Standard-ANTT and Surgical-ANTT

Stephen Rowley, Clinical Director and Founder of Aseptic Non-Touch Technique (ANTT) had this to say: ANTT is a contemporary and unique Clinical Practice Framework for ensuring high standards of aseptic technique and has been shown to help reduce practice variability and Hospital Acquired Infections (HAIs). Importantly, ANTT is used for all invasive procedures from major surgery to very simple clinical procedures. It has become the most widely used standard for aseptic technique in healthcare internationally and is used variously in over 30 countries – finally establishing a long overdue universal practice and practice language for aseptic technique. Increasingly, ANTT is being mandated or encouraged at a national level in countries such as Wales, Algeria, Romania and of course Australia.

The advantages of a single standard for this critical clinical competency are perhaps as obvious as they are profound; A common clinical practice and practice language with ANTT now provides a strong foundation for improvements in aseptic practice, education and importantly research. This is increasingly being recognised by endorsement or reference by important stakeholder organisations including the influential INS Standards (2021), the Association for Vascular Access (AVA), Australia National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC 2019) and the World Health Organisation (WHO 2019).

We are also seeing more countries set out a legal requirement for healthcare organisations to have a single standard aseptic technique, demonstrable by the good clinical governance indicators of education, training, competency assessment and compliance audit. (For example, the Health 7 Social Care Act 2009/2015 in the UK). The ANTT Framework, and this ANTT eLearning Course supports healthcare organisations to meet such a standard.

We at the Association for Safe Aseptic Practice are excited to launch the new version of our ANTT eLearning course in partnership with Kineo, which provides a more accessible, user friendly and richer learning experience for healthcare organisations and their employees – and with whom we’ve enjoyed an educational collaboration with for a number of years, to the benefit of health care workers and healthcare organisations.

ANTT learners can now take advantage of Kineo’s Responsive features and benefits:
