Enhancement

Say hello to our new self-registration toggle – Link Validation Rules with Self Registration – designed to empower Site Administrators and users alike.

We’ve enhanced the Self Registration page in Configuration so that your Site Administrators can seamlessly link your site’s validation rules with your Portal’s account creation page.

We're thrilled to introduce the new Link Validation Rules with Self Registration toggle – it’s just a little switch, but its work is sublime.

Our latest change offers you more control over self-registration as it allows your Site Administrators to seamlessly take the validation rules for account creation and apply them to your Portal’s self-registration page.

About Validation Rules and Self-Registration

The New Account page in your Learning Management System (LMS) makes it possible for your Administrators to create new user accounts. Your site’s validation rules determine which fields appear on this page and what the parameters are for these fields – such as the minimum and maximum length allowed and whether that field is mandatory.

If you have enabled self-registration, your people can create their own accounts through your Portal via the Create Your Account page. To help you gain the data you need, your Site Administrators can use the Self Registration page in Configuration to control what fields are shown on the Create Your Account page when a user self-registers through your Portal. Changing the parameters of these fields or setting them to be mandatory is not available through the Self Registration page.

However, this new change makes it possible for your Site Administrators to link your validation rules so that they are replicated for self-registration. In doing so, all enabled validation rule fields appear when someone is self-registering through your Portal and any rules set – such as the field’s mandatory status and customised parameter rules – apply.

Where to find your Validation Rules

Your Site Administrators can access and update your site’s validation rules via:

  • Configuration > Site Settings folder > Access & Security folder > Validation Rules
Where to find your Self-Registration Settings

Your Site Administrators can find and maintain your site’s self-registration settings by going to:

  • Configuration > Site Settings folder > Access & Security folder > Self Registration

What does this mean for your business?

Let's break it down:

Consistency is Key: The fields in your LMS account creation page can now perfectly mirror your Portal's account creation page. This seamless alignment ensures that the same type of data is collected, no matter where the account is created.

Mandatory Data Collection: Requiring the mandatory input of key information during self-registration creates more comprehensive user profiles and minimises the chances of problems occurring due to incomplete profiles. Furthermore, being able to gather the data you need from the get-go spares your administrators from the hassle of having to chase down information and manually enter data.

Enhanced Self-Service: Simplifying self-service has never been easier. By making additional fields mandatory, such as Email, Company, and Phone, the self-registration process becomes smoother, faster, and more dependable. Users won't have to navigate through multiple steps or seek help from your admins, resulting in a seamless onboarding experience.

Enable and Enjoy

Any new sites created have the Link Validation Rules with Self Registration toggle enabled as a default – offering you an enhanced out-of-the-box experience. For existing sites, your Site Administrator can enable this feature at your request. Once the change is saved, it's applied to your site instantly, without any downtime or interruption.

The improved Self Registration page is a pivotal step forward in ensuring your users have a seamless, efficient, and reliable self-registration process. Whether you're onboarding new learners, partners, or customers, this enhancement will elevate your portal's user experience, making self-service a breeze.
