Safe Medication Management
‘Safe Medication Management’ and ‘Safe Medication Management for Enrolled Nurses’ combined into a single updated course.
This course has been developed to provide qualified nurses and midwives with an understanding of best practice for safe medication management, medication administration and medication calculation.
Our subject matter expert, Frontline Care Solutions, has advised us to combine both courses for the contemporary practices of all nurses that are registered and qualified to administer medications in their scope of practices, using the following rationale:
- All nurses are now registered as General (RN Div 1 & RN Div 2/ EN )
- All contemporary EN’s can administer medication under the current diploma qualification
- The EN that cannot, has a mark on registration will be clear in the terms of not being holding a qualification or endorsement
- The same rules apply to Midwives under the Act
This product has been converted into Responsive format. We recommend that clients update to the new unit for an improved learner experience. Changes have also been made to pre-assessment questions and/or references to legislation and best practices that only affect some sections and learning outcomes. We therefore recommend that clients update to the new unit and use Adaptics to determine which sections of the training learners need to review.
After completing this course, you will:
- understand your responsibility to safely administer medication and reduce the risk of a medication or adverse drug event occurring
- be able to identify key risk points in the medication administration process, as well as strategies to minimise these risks, and
- accurately calculate drug and medication dosages, including tablets, mixture and solutions, and intravenous flow and drip rates.
The Australian Healthcare and Hospital Association (AHHA) endorses this course as meeting AHHA's standards for educational quality and usability, with the content having been developed by an appropriately credentialed subject matter expert.
Learners who successfully complete this course may be eligible to earn a digital badge to demonstrate completion.
