Looking good and managing resources.
Content is more appealing on a visually engaging page. That’s why we’ve elevated the Resource Management tool so that your educational resources can be both smart and good looking. Alluring, eye-catching, enticing, and appealing are just some of the words your Portal’s Resources page would say if it could look in the mirror. To keep its ego in check, we told it that sometimes looks are important, but substance is what helps your team find, share, and engage with resources effectively — and that’s exactly what these enhancements are designed to support. They’re more than just cosmetic; they help your organisation present resources in a structured, professional, and engaging way.

We’ve upgraded your Resources Management tool so that you can more effectively manage and present your learning resources — making the experience faster, clearer, and more visually engaging for everyone.
What did we add?
The Resources Management tool now includes a thumbnail image field, allowing you to add an image to any resource — whether it’s a folder, file, or link.
With this feature, you can:
- Choose from a built-in library of free, high-quality Unsplash images.
- Upload a photo from your device or network.
- Use your own business images for consistent branding.
- Align visuals with your organisation’s look and feel.
Improved end-user experience
Your Portal’s Resources page is now easier to navigate, offering end users:
- Tile and list view – flexible viewing options.
- Pagination controls – smart handling of large lists.
- Mobile-friendly, responsive design – images that pop on any device.
Designed for clarity and professionalism
Whether you’re building a branded library or simplifying access to key resources, these enhancements help your team present information more clearly — and make it easier for all users to find what they need.

More about the Resources Management tool
A new Thumbnail image field gives you a cleaner, more visual way to present your resources.
Site Administrators and Resource Managers now have the option to apply a thumbnail image to any resource — whether it's a file, folder, or link. The selected image will appear on your Portal’s Resources page, making it easier for users to navigate the page and identify their required content.
To add a thumbnail image, click the Select or upload thumbnail image button in the new field. This opens the Upload or select an image pop-up, which has two tabs:
- Upload – Add an image from your device or network.
- Free Images – Search and select from the built-in Unsplash library.
- Thumbnails improve resource discoverability without affecting version control.
- Images are automatically resized to 320px by 180px for uniformity.
- Icons are used in the left panel of the Resources Management tool to represent whether the resource is a folder, file, or link. Thumbnail images are not used here as the available space is too small.
More about the Resources Page
The updated Resources page offers a cleaner, more flexible browsing experience. Users can now switch between List view and Tile view, and their last selected view is automatically displayed the next time they visit.
Previously, only Tile view was available, and tiles simply showed a generic icon based on whether the resource was a file, folder, or link. With custom thumbnail images, resources are easier to recognise and more visually engaging.
Pagination controls have also been introduced to improve navigation through large sets of resources. When there are more than 10 items, users can choose how many to display per page — with options for 20, 50, or 100.
These improvements make the page more intuitive and help users find what they need quickly, even when managing large volumes of content.
Tile view includes:
- Thumbnail images for folders, files, and links.
- If a thumbnail has not been assigned, an icon displays to show if the resource is a folder, file, or link.
- The resource’s title – the title includes a link, allowing for easy navigation.
- General information about that type of resource; it will show:
- A folder’s content count.
- The date the file or link was modified.
- A file’s size.
- The description assigned to the resource via the Resources Management tool.
- Pagination is available when there are more than 10 items.
List view includes:
- A table that itemises the resources, placing relevant details within the table’s Title, Contents, and Description columns.
- Icons that let you know if the resource is a folder, file, or link.
- A link in the resource’s name that navigates you to that resource.
- Depending on the type of resource, the Contents column will include:
- A content count for folders.
- The date the file or link was modified.
- The size of any file.
- Pagination options appear when there are more than 10 resources on the page.
- If your site contains public resources, the Resources page is available without requiring a login, and any public resource can be accessed directly from that page. Any non-public resources can be accessed once the user has logged in.
- Empty folders in Resource Management are hidden from view in your Portal.
