LAB Course Certificates – providing learners with the proof they need.
You don’t need to be Sherlock Holmes to decipher what LAB course objectives the learner met; you can now include that information on their certificate of completion.
To support organisations and learners who require more detailed training records, we've added new options in the Learnforce Activity Builder that enable learning objectives to be included in a LAB course’s certificate of completion. This change gives your learners a clear outline of what they’ve achieved and provides them with further proof of compliance.
What type of LAB courses are included?
The new certificate feature is available for LAB learning activities and SCORM courses.
What about other (non-LAB) courses?
Learning objectives can be included on the certificate of completion for a non-LAB course if that course includes that information. You control this feature with the Learning Objectives toggle, which is available via:
- Configuration > Site Settings > Branding & Design > Certificate branding > Select fields on certificate section > Learning Objectives toggle.
Enabling or disabling this toggle applies that setting site-wide to all non-LAB courses.
Where are the new LAB course options?
To find the new LAB course options:
- Open the Learnforce Activity Builder.
- Find and open a published* LAB course.
The new settings can only be modified if the course is published.
- Click the Options tab.
- Go to the General Section and set the Issue a certificate of completion toggle to ON.
The new settings are hidden if this toggle is set to OFF.
- Go to the Published Options section and switch the new Show Learning Objectives on Certificate toggle to ON (default = OFF).
The new Learning Objectives on Certificate Text field appears when you switch this toggle ON.
How does the Learning Objectives on Certificate Text field work?
The Learning Objectives on Certificate Text field allows you to define the learning objectives met by completing the course. Applying learning objectives to a course creates a second certificate page that lists all objectives outlined in the Learning Objectives on Certificate Text field.
The field:
- Supports plain text (not WYSIWYG).
- Allows up to 7 lines and 700 characters.
- Only accepts pasted text if it fits within the above-mentioned limits.
- Is hidden when either of these toggles is set to OFF:
- Show Learning Objectives on Certificate.
- Issue a certificate of completion.
NOTE
- You need to publish your changes to apply the learning objectives to the certificate of completion.
- The Learning Objectives page will not appear in the certificate if the Learning Objectives on Certificate Text field is blank.
What about custom certificates?
Please get in touch if you’d like to use this feature and your site uses a custom certificate.
Updating a custom certificate requires additional considerations and modifications. This is why we’ve placed a ‘Support request required’ note on sites that use custom certificates. The note appears when you set the Show Learning Objectives on Certificate toggle to YES.
What does this feature look like in the certificate?
An example of a LAB course certificate that includes learning objectives is provided below. It includes two pages. The first page is the certificate of completion, the second contains the learning objectives.
