Globally Harmonised System – Unit ID 25552 has been updated to reflect Australia’s two year transition from the third edition of the Globally Harmonised System of Classification and Labelling of Chemicals (GHS 3) to the revised seventh edition (GHS 7). This allows Australia to implement a more up-to-date version of the GHS. With GHS 7 suppliers and users are required to ensure that all the chemicals they order, or use, have compliant labels and Safety Data Sheets. There should not be anything supplied or used at a workplace now that does not have a compliant label and SDS. Any outdated labels on chemical containers must be relabelled or the contents and containers appropriately disposed of. This course has also received a visual update.
Hazardous Chemicals for Managers and Supervisors – Unit ID 25641 has been updated to reflect new terminology, current legislation and best practice regarding risks related to the storage and use of hazardous chemicals and the policies and procedures that cover the management and use of hazardous chemicals. Examples of work contained within the term ‘duties’ has been expanded. Reference has been made to compliance codes and their role in working safely with hazardous chemicals. Activities and assessments have been updated to reflect new legislation and best practice.
