Enhancement

Classification features arriving in style.

Elevate the end-to-end learning experience with Classifications. Our new Classification options enhance training management and provide a sleek and cohesive training experience for your learners. With Classifications, you can customise your Learnforce platforms to create a more functional and aesthetically appealing space. Select the perfect colour palette for your Classification labels, arrange courses with precision, and help your administrators, learners, managers, and reporting gurus obtain the knowledge they need to confidently accomplish their objectives.

Add a splash of organisation and a pop of colour to your site with our new classification options. You can choose colours that represent your business style, and seamlessly apply multiple classifications across any course in Learnforce.

Our latest enhancements expand the usability and flexibility of classifications. These updates bring more structure and style to your platform. You can use them to:

  • Apply classifications across any assignable course in Learnforce – this feature is open to all assignable courses, regardless of how or where they are created.
  • Add multiple classification tags to an assignable course – no need to limit a course with one classification label.
  • Create new classifications – align this feature with your branding by naming your classifications and defining a custom colour to represent each one.
  • Roll out a report that includes unit classification information – allow classifications to provide deeper training insights.
  • Control the visibility of classifications – choose whether classification tags appear in the My Training and Dashboard pages of your Portal.
  • Define what constitutes as Due Soon – use a new setting to choose when a course is flagged as nearing its due date.

Key Updates Across Learnforce

Configuration

Centralised Management

You can now manage all classification-related settings in Configuration, reducing the need to navigate multiple areas of the platform. This simplifies processes such as adding, editing, or deleting classifications.

Classifications page

We’ve revamped and moved the Classifications page, which allows you to add and remove classifications. In addition to this functionality, the page now contains a table that displays the following classification information:

  • Name.
  • Colour.
  • Visibility status in the My Training page of your Portal.
  • Usage count.
  • A Context menu (three little dots) that enables you to:
    • edit the options listed above, or
    • delete the classification if it’s not in use.

You can find the Classifications page here:

  • Configuration > Products > Learning Management > Classifications.

Assignable Courses page

You can now use the Assignable Courses page to add or remove a classification from any assignable course. To find this page go to:

  • Configuration > Site Settings > Online Training Management > Assignable Courses.

Once you have the page open you can set the classifications for an assignable course by taking these steps:

  1. Find the course in the table.
  2. Click its Context menu (three little dots).
  3. Select Set Classifications.
  4. Use the Set Classification(s) pop up to add or remove classifications.
  5. Click the Save button.
TIP!

You can use the above process to add multiple classifications to an assignable course.

New Learning Management page

We’ve added a new Configuration page in the Learning Management folder called General Settings. It allows you to set the Due Soon parameter, which defines when courses are flagged as nearing their due date. Your options are:

  • 28 days (4 weeks) till deadline date (default).
  • 2 months till deadline date.
  • 1 month till deadline date.
  • 21 days (3 weeks) till deadline date.
  • 14 days (2 weeks) till deadline date.

A course is classed as Due Soon when it has a deadline date that is on or between the Due Soon setting. You can also use this page to hide or show the Due Soon & Overdue labels in the Learning Management System.

The General Settings page is located here:

  • Configuration > Products > Learning Management > General Settings.

Configuration and the Learnforce Activity Builder

Previously, classifications could be created and updated in the Activity Builder section of Configuration and in the Activity Builder itself. Classifications could not be added to a LAB course via Configuration; they could only be added from within the Activity Builder.

As a result of enhancing classifications and streamlining this feature, the Activity Builder folder has been removed from Configuration because it no longer contains any pages.

Learnforce Activity Builder (LAB)

Previously, classifications were only available for Learnforce Activity Builder (LAB) courses and only one could be assigned per course. Classifications were (and can still be) set in the Activity Builder via the Options tab when creating or editing a Learning Activity or SCORM course. Please note that, we’ve made the following changes in the Options tab to cater for the new classification features:

  • The Classification and Activity available via Cloud settings have moved to a new section called Published Options.
  • You can use the Classification setting to add multiple classifications to a LAB course.
  • The Published Options settings can only be altered if the course is already published.

My Training

Previously, if a user was enrolled in a LAB course that had a classification, a classification label would appear against that course in the My Training page. As of this release, one or multiple classifications can be added to any type of assignable course. Therefore, in the My Training page, classification labels:

  • Appear against their assigned courses regardless of activity type.
  • Are colour-coded and display up to two classifications. When the course has three or more classifications, the user can click the “more…” button to make the additional classification labels appear.

The Portal’s Dashboard

In the Portal’s Dashboard, classification labels now appear below their course title. This feature is available for all assignable course types and to all users – managers and users alike.

An additional filtering feature is now also available for managers in the course management section of the Dashboard. They can use it to filter courses by classification.

Learning Management System (LMS)

Classification labels now appear next to course titles in the following locations:

  • An account’s Learning Activities tab in the Enrolled Learning Activities section.
  • A group’s Contextualisation tab.

We’ve also added the following sorting options to an account’s Learning Activities tab:

  • Title.
  • Deadline.
  • Status.

Reports

Classification information can now be reported on. New classification columns and filters are now available in the User Training Report. The administrator can use these options to refine data by selecting specific classifications. This allows the report to return more detailed analysis and provide deeper insights into course categorisation.

Classification options appear in the Advanced Options section of the User Training Report when reporting on courses (units). The new Course Filters drop-down lets you specify the classifications and training categories you would like to report on, and the Course(Unit) Columns section provides you with the se two new options:

  • Category.
  • Classification(s).
