If you work at a business with a high cash flow, a retail outlet or somewhere with goods that are high value and can be difficult to obtain then you may experience a robbery situation at some point in your career. Should a robbery occur, it’s important to understand that the right behaviours may contribute to a safe outcome.
Kineo Courses’ Armed Robbery Safety course has been designed to provide learners with an understanding of how to behave safely during a robbery situation. The course focusses on the following learning objectives:
- how your behaviours may contribute to the safe outcome of a robbery related event
- how a workplace setup can reduce the risk of harm in the event of a robbery
- procedures and training that can reduce the risk of robbery and keep you safe, and
- the post-incident procedures to follow after a robbery.
This course contains important information on what security measures can be put in place to reduce the risk of a robbery. The main focus of the course is the safe behaviour that learners must know in the event of a robbery – from how to interact with the person committing a robbery, how to safely activate an alarm and how to avoid escalating a robbery situation.
The course places an emphasis on the importance of safe behaviour during a robbery and repeats the key message that learners should not ‘be a hero’ in a robbery situation. Also emphasised is the need for people to understand how they can look after themselves after the robbery, from recognising common reactions to knowing that it is ok to seek professional counselling or support.
While the title of the course is ‘Armed Robbery Safety’, the language within the course is inclusive of robbery as well. Methods of preventing robberies, how to behave during a robbery and what to do after a robbery are the same as during an armed robbery.
This course has been reviewed by a recognised subject matter expert in this space; WorkSafe Solutions.
