New Feature

Learning Record Store (LRS) Integration

Version 9

Learning Portal now provides seamless integration with a Learning Record Store using Experience API (or xAPI)

Learning Record Store (LRS) Integration

Learning Portal uses xAPI to generate and send real-time learning activity data to a Learning Record Store (LRS) of your choice, allowing you to track and manage your learner’s progress in one place.

What is the xAPI?

The Experience API or xAPI describes learning activities as statements. Each statement is comprised of an actor, an action, and an object.

How does Experience API or xAPI work?

Your organisation may offer a learning program that helps new employees with formal training. When a new employee, successfully completes the training via Learning Portal which is xAPI enabled, it records an xAPI activity statement. If statement forwarding is configured correctly, then the learner’s experience is relayed to a Learning Record Store (LRS).

What xAPI statements are recorded in Learning Portal?

Learning Portal will record statements for all training that has been delivered to users and forward the following interactions to an LRS:

  • Training that is launched/started
  • Training that has completed
  • Assessment results

All statements will include the user, the course details and time the activity occurred.

How are activity statements forwarded to an LRS?

Available in the Configuration, under third-party apps, site administrators can configure the forwarding of xAPI statements to an LRS in just a few seconds. By entering in the LRS URL and account details, the statements will be forwarded to one or multiple LRS’s of your choice.
